Updates from last meeting (9/26/05)

Jesse Carpenter reports that funding for the spring PHIT Club is concerning. Currently struggling to get funding for the fall program already in place. Boosters club gave $500.  Administration willing to give up to $200. No word yet from BC/BS. PHIT Club joined staff for the faculty hike at Berlin Pond. Currently have 11 girls participating of which 4 want PE credit.

Jack Revoir reports that Jeff is willing to consider an employee wellness day. Obviously can’t happen this year but need to plan more specifics on content and format for the day.

Tom Treece – definition of candy is more difficult to define than once thought. Did find info from USDA on Foods of Minimal Nutritional Value. Info printed from on-line and shared(www.fns.usda.gov/cnd/menu/fmnv.htm)  Tom also spoke with Tom Sabo through Montpelier Schools.  Students helping through class work in greenhouse and supplying most of greens at lunch. Coordinated effort taking place to involve students/staff/community for local food.  Group raised over $30,000 to pay for funding and instruction.
