Ms. Hosey is our fifth grade teacher.
She is an awesome teacher and loves snowboarding. She has long blonde hair
and neat cursive writing. This is her second year teaching at Ferrisburgh.
For our pride project, every Friday, we recycle every bin in the school.
We separate cardboard, cans and paper. We studied soil and forestry in
our science class.
In Social Studies, we are studying
famous explorers from the Netherlands, England, Spain and Italy. We did
study kings and queens, peasants, serfs, nobles and workers from the Middle
Ages. We go to Mr. Stapleford's class for our social studies. We
do a lot of role playing in the class instead of reading the books. We
have a good time. We do have worksheets for homework.
This is our second year of having
Spanish. Mrs. Stapleford is our teacher. This year, we are saying sentences.
We also sound out words, know the alphabet, colors, months, days of the
week, numbers and names of food. We also know the names for furniture and
family members. We sing Spanish songs.
We split up our class for math. Some
of us go to Ms. Hosey and some go to Ms. Elson. We are learning about factors,
prime factorization, long division and long multiplication.
For lunch, we have the freedom to sit where ever we like. We can talk during
lunch instead of being read to, even though we loved hearing the stories
sometimes. After we eat, we are composting the uneaten food and liquid.
We have three excellent lunch ladies; Mrs. Alexander, Mrs. Barnes, and
Mrs. Gebo, together they make the best lunches. We are known
for great lunches at Ferrisburgh.
During recess, we play football,
soccer, baseball, and kickball with Mr. Stapleford. We also swing, play
on the monkey bars, bridges, and big wooden boat. We have great running
space and a super hill. We have a twenty-five minute recess to play and
relax. We have a stupendous tire maze and sandbox. The gazebo is relaxing
and a great meeting place.
Fifth grade is more challenging
than fourth grade. We have more work and homework that is harder and required.
Ms. Hosey helps us get through it though. Silent Speedball is a game we
play at the end of the day. People who can be quiet usually win unlike
loud people. We have a great time in Ms. Hosey's fifth grade class and
fifth grade!!!!
