My name is Ken Epstein and I am the mathematics teacher for the Calliope Team at CMS. Teaching and working with young adults and adolescents is a satisfying and fulfilling responsibility that I have grown to embrace more deeply with each passing year. I will strive to make your child's experience as a student challenging and rewarding through a caring and supportive classroom.

Please know that you are always welcome to contact me with questions or concerns either at school or home any time.
Weekly Assignments
Class and homework assignments are to be kept in your notebook. Place your name and the current date on your work, and store it chronologically in your binders. Although your homework grade is a small percentage of your overall grade, it is the questions and discussions that arise from these assignments that make your participation critical to your understanding. It is important that you begin to learn how to monitor your own understanding of new learning and to ask for clarification when you are unclear. I will be using several assessments to help you throughout this process. homework

All students need to complete the practice New England Math League Contest. Remember, this is a timed contest for 30 minutes. So, work for 30 minutes maximum, but be prepared to ask questions in class.

Visit the New England Math League website for more details about this year's contest.

Make sure homework is completed neatly and timely. Put your full name, assignment and date at the top right of your paper. Do your best and seek help when you need it. You can always use the Mr. E. Homework Hotline at 644-8173. Operators are waiting. Please call prior to 8:00 p.m. Thanks!

Announcements
I am available to meet with students after regular school hours Tuesday - Thursday from 2:20-3:45 Students should provide a note stating parental permission for their attendance. The activity bus is available most days for student use. Please check availibility a day in advance.
MathCounts
Students are to complete a minimum of five of the Warm-Up or Workout problems each week. Expect this to increase as the year advances. These problems can be quite challenging, but bring to light the true essence of problem-solving. Parents are welocme to help with the problems as much as they wish.
