Prior to being hired by the District for the 2004-2005 school year, Mr. Norstrom was developing and instructing various Information Technology courses such as hardware, operating systems, networking, web design, Internet and Computing Core Certification (IC3), and Microsoft Office at Northlands Job Corps Center in Vergennes, Vermont. Bjorn Norstrom, a native of Sweden, earned his bachelor's degree in Education at Nicholls State University in Thibodaux, Louisiana in 1997. In 1999, he attained his master's degree in Teaching English as a Second Language from Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona. In 2001, he completed his post-master certificate of advanced graduate studies in Information Technology from Saint Michael's College in Colchester, Vermont. Mr. Norstrom is an HQT (Highly Qualified Teacher) Vermont licensed teacher, endorsed in four subject areas: Educational Technology Specialist, Social Studies, English, and English as a Second Language. He has attained eight different Microsoft Office Specialist certifications and is a certified Microsoft Master Instructor. He holds a certification in Internet and Computing Core Certification (IC3) and is an IC3 Authorized Instructor. Mr. Norstrom is also a certified A+ Computer Technician as well as an Intel Teach to the Future Master Teacher. When not engaged in computer and teaching related activities, Mr. Norstrom enjoys spending time with his family, play golf, exercise, and read.

Mr. Norstrom is a 2005 recipient of the international award "Champions of Digital Literacy." "Champions of Digital Literacy" recipients  are a select group of individuals around the world who have made significant contributions towards the advancement of digital literacy in their respective schools, communities, and organizations and have shown extraordinary commitment and success in computer literacy education.  Further, in 2006 Mr. Norstrom published an article titled "Mapping Curriculum to Ed Tech and Industry Standards"  in the premiere international educational technology journal called Learning & Leading with Technology published by the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE). In 2008. he co-published a second article in the same publication titled "Getting Girls EX.I.T.E.D. About Project Management." In addition to his two previous publications, Mr. Norstrom has been a presenter at both international and national conferences. Mr. Norstrom is a former adjunct faculty member at the New England Culinary Institute (NECI) where he taught Information Technology courses. Mr. Norstrom is currently  providing Colchester faculty professional development during in-service days and through formal courses through Saint Michael's College for graduate school credit. Mr. Norstrom is currently enrolled in a master's degree program in Educational Technology through Boise State University.
