In grade 8, we work on the 21st
Century Skills and multimedia, and Business Technologies.
Because we are going to be using expensive equipment (video cameras) and conduct fieldwork activities outside of the classroom on a regular basis, please note below two clauses that are directly relevant to this:
1. If a student causes behavioral problems during our fieldwork activities, that student will NOT be allowed to participate in any fieldwork activities in the future. Instead, that student will be assigned to the Planning Room each time we are leaving the classroom for field work.
2. If a student mishandles or misuses the equipment by not behaving properly or not following instructions and this inappropriate behavior results in the equipment breaking, the student’s parents or guardians are responsible for paying for the damaged equipment so a replacement can be purchased.
Multimedia
In this course component, we use
the software MovieMaker and
digital camcorders. Students have the opportunity to make digital videos and
interactive presentations and edit them into professional projects. Some

Business
Technologies
In this unit, students interact
with a variety of business technologies while using RollerCoaster Tycoon to
generate real-time data. Students take on the roles such as of entrepreneur,
CEO, and CFO to create a variety of documents for a variety or purposes while
solving problems and operating their virtual business.
